John M. Frounfelter, age 83, a resident of Minneapolis was born September 18, 1942 in Wheaton, MN the son of Melvin and Lillian (Olhoft) Frounfelter. He ended his life November 1, 2025 in his apartment in the midst of increasing mobility and housing challenges.
He grew up in Wheaton where he graduated from Wheaton High School in 1962. He also attended North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND majoring in mechanical drafting. John worked for his father for a short time hauling livestock, worked at Ron’s Clothing in Wheaton and was a member of the Wheaton Jaycees. In the mid-sixties he moved to Minneapolis and worked for Sons of Norway for a short period of time and also lived and worked in California. He then moved back to Minneapolis and worked for Control Data Corp/MPI for twenty-three years. John then worked at Network Systems/StorageTek for twelve years. He later became a contract worker. John retired from Nonin Medical in Plymouth, MN. In all of these roles he was an information technology documentation specialist — in the days of tracking paper engineering change orders/configuration management. John enjoyed traveling to Canada and England and visiting friends and relatives in other states. One London native said, “he loved London and its pubs, he knew the city better than me!”
John is survived by cousins: Gary, Dean and Wayne Olhoft; Jeff, Arthur (Butch), Dale and Stephon Frounfelter; Brenda Cyther, Douglas Mulvanny, Barbara Wolbersen, Judy Hanson and Marianne Mohagen.
He was preceded in death by his parents and cousins Gene ‘Swede’ Frounfelter, Patricia Block and Kay Olhoft.
