John Thomas Fuller

John Thomas Fuller, 80, passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at Advent Health Shawnee Mission in Merriam, Kansas. Born on January 25, 1945, in Kansas City, Kansas, John was a proud lifelong resident of the area, having cherished over five decades in the same beloved family home. The youngest of five children, John grew up instilling values of hard work and family devotion.
John dedicated 35 years of his professional life to Bayer, where he distinguished himself as a Hazmat cleanup expert, retiring in 2000. His commitment to safety and meticulous work ethic earned him the respect of his colleagues. Beyond his career, John found immense joy in life's simpler pleasures. He was a quintessential "shade tree mechanic," known for his skilled hands and willingness to fix anything with an engine. He relished the camaraderie of a friendly card game or a trip to the casino, and the quiet satisfaction of enjoying a cold beer, often surrounded by friends and family.
A true patriarch, John was a wonderful family man and an exceptionally loving father, holding a special place in his heart for all the "girls" in his family, whose lives he enriched with unwavering support and affection. His legacy of love and laughter will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. We also honor his service to our country, serving in the U.S. Army for 3 years.
John was preceded in death by his beloved parents, John and Nina Fuller, and his sister, Vivian Brown. He is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Donna Fuller, of the home; his cherished daughter, Mindy Stallings, and her husband Keith, of Kansas City, Missouri; his son, Ryan Fuller, also of Kansas City, Kansas; his brother, Don "Butch" Fuller, of Kansas City, Kansas; and his sisters, Frances Schoenberger, of Kansas City, Kansas, and Jackie Keys, of Rogers, Arkansas. John's memory will also be treasured by his two granddaughters, Ericka and Keiara, and his three great-grandchildren, K.J., Zachai, and Zaya, all of whom will miss him dearly.
A celebration of John's remarkable life will be held from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Saturday, December 6, at the Harrington Family Event Center in Bonner Springs, Kansas. At a later date, John will be laid to rest with military honors at the Leavenworth Veterans Administration National Cemetery in Leavenworth, Kansas.
