John A. Galando Sr.

1951 - 2025

John A. "Bachie" Galando Sr., a cherished father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on Aug. 1, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on Sept. 12, 1951, in Mammoth, he was the son of the late Anthony and Eleanor Galando. John was a dedicated machinist by trade, known for his strong work ethic and commitment to his craft. Outside of his professional life, he was a passionate car enthusiast, with a particular fondness for Mopars. He found great joy in attending car shows and sharing his love of the classics with others. Above all, John treasured his family and relished the time spent with them. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 41 years, Nancy (Newhouse) Galando. John is survived by his children, John A. Galando Jr. and his wife Juliann, and Jennifer Smith and her husband Brian. He also leaves behind two granddaughters, Samantha Galando and Avery Smith, who brought immense joy to his life; they were Bachie's greatest blessings. Family and friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 4, at HOFFER WILT FUNERAL HOME, 2245 Mt. Pleasant Rd., Norvelt. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 5, in the funeral home, with Pastors David and Jason Dillie co-officiating. John will be laid to rest in a private interment at Byerly Freeman Cemetery.
