JOHN L. "JOHNNY" GALLEGOS JR. Funeral services for lifelong area resident John L. "Johnny" Gallegos Jr. will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 10 at the old gym at Mancos High School. Father Pat Valdez will officiate. Cremation will follow the funeral. Visitation has been scheduled for Friday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Following the viewing a rosary service will be held at the funeral home. Johnny was born November 24, 1965 in Durango the son of John L. and Roberta (Silva) Gallegos. He passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2011 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Durango at the age of 46. On July 25, 1999 Johnny and Sandy MacPherson met and began their life together. He worked for High Mark Development in Telluride for ten years. Johnny was an avid outdoorsman. He loved spending time in the mountains where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, four wheeling, and wood burning. Johnny also enjoyed art and was very artistic. Surviving Johnny are his parents, John and Roberta Gallegos of Mancos; his wife, Sandy MacPherson of Cortez; his children, Brian MacPherson and Jennifer MacPherson of Mancos; his siblings, Eugene Gallegos and wife, Dee, Melinda Gallegos Murphy and Melaine Brassill, all of Mancos; his nephews, Billy Gallegos of St. Louis, Mo., Tony Gallegos of West Virginia, and Brian Murphy of Mancos; and his nieces, Sabrina Murphy, Skylane Brassill, and Julian Brassill, all of Mancos. Johnny was preceded in death by his loving dog Lexi "Pigface" Gallegos. Memorial contributions may be made in Johnny's name to First National Bank.
