John Garbaczik Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ferfolia Funeral Home on Mar. 30, 2026.
JOHN T. GARBACZIK, 72, of Maple Heights, passed away March 28, 2026. Beloved husband of 50 years to Diane (nee Balog); Loving dad to Gary S. (Liz) and Leslie A.; Cherished grandpa to Laura Coker, Evelyn, and Addyson; Dearest son of the late Stanley J. Sr. and Helen Garbaczik (nee Fogliano); Dear brother of the late Carol and the late Stanley J. Jr.; Caring brother-in-law to late Linda Yovanno and Lorrie Balog; uncle, great uncle and friend to many. John was a man of deep love, steady faith, and quiet strength. He was proudest of all to be a husband to his beloved wife Diane, his partner, his best friend, his lifelong companion. Fifty years of marriage isn't just a number; it's a testament to devotion, patience, laughter, and enduring love. Together, they built a life full of memories, humor, and unwavering support. "I am proud of the man you became to better yourself; by showing me the strength and dedication of love you held deep in your heart for me. Never can say goodbye-only see you again soon." John was a truck driver for 23 years for a produce company. He also loved to bowl and was in a league for over 20 years. John found joy in the simple things-a good pot of coffee, along with the familiar rhythm of 70s music playing in the background. His home was always filled with warmth and a sense of belonging, the kind that comes from someone who truly understands what gratitude and grace look like. He was deeply proud of his 38 years of sobriety-a living example of the power of perseverance, faith, and community. His motto, "one day at a time," guided not only his journey but inspired those who knew him in AA and beyond. His AA family meant the world to him, and he cherished the friendships and fellowship that helped shape his life. John had two children, Gary and Leslie. Gary cherished the moments of being able to tag along on truck routes, to watch him bowl during league play, and being able to share the same emotions of watching Cleveland sports highs & lows together. "The love I have for my family is passed on from the way that he loved me." Leslie is known for being exactly like John, and she's honored to keep his legend alive. Leslie is grateful John trusted her to care for him in his final chapter. "I appreciate the love he showed my daughter and showed her how to trust." John's greatest joy was his family, especially his granddaughters. He loved watching SpongeBob with Laura, laughing and sharing that special bond only a grandpa and granddaughter could. And he was the proudest grandpa whenever Evelyn and Addyson took the stage to dance-his eyes lit up; his smile said it all. John showed us how to live life with honesty, humility, and humor. He taught us that no matter how hard the road, every new day is a gift. Though we will miss his laughter, his kindness, and his company, we hold close the love and lessons he left us. John reminded us to cherish the moment, to love wholeheartedly, and, as he always said, to take it-one day at a time. Friends may call at the FERFOLIA FUNERAL HOME, 356 W. AURORA RD. (ST. RT. 82) SAGAMORE HILLS FOR VISITATION TUESDAY, APRIL 7, 2026 FROM 5-7 PM.
