John was a great American. He served our country in the Navy on nuclear submarines. He worked a full career and served his community. A loving family man that enjoyed helping his neighbors. He put others before himself.

I worked for John in the early 1990's when I was going through a significant family health crisis, and he could not have been more compassionate or generous. He will always be, truly, a gem of a gentleman. Sincerely, Jim Burkman

Dear John,
I am so deeply saddened to learn of your passing, my dear friend.
We have kept in touch & I knew all that you were going through.
However when you didn't respond to my most recent calls/texts, I regrettably feared the worst & checked the Obits this morning!
We met back in 2011 on the CCB project at Baltimore Gas & Electric and instantly hit it off to continue a long term very treasured friendship all the way up to the present!
You were my mentor, work partner, confidant & cherished friend ever since then! You gave me so much advice & we had so much fun & so many laughs while working together.
Your incredible sense of humor was loved by everyone & you will be greatly missed.
I once told you that sometimes when I look at you I am in awe of your intelligence & your generous capacity to share that knowledge with others. Then other times when I look at you I see the face of a mischievous 12 year old boy. (as you would steal my pens in a meeting or some other trick)
But you were the epitome of a good friend for those of us who were fortunate enough to share your friendship!
Your dedication to your wife, to your job & to the various causes/groups that you were involved with was also remarkable.
The only consolation now is that you are finally at peace & out of suffering and reunited with Deb.
Thanks for the wonderful memories & I will forever miss you, my dearest friend!
As we always said, Bye for now & until we meet again.
Fondly,
Jean Haddaway
