RHINEBECK, NY � John J. Garruto, 94, a Rhinebeck resident since 1998, died Saturday, Jan. 7, 2006 at the Thompson House. Born on May 1, 1911, in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Frank and Michelina Rosati Garruto. In 1938, he married Fulvia Dell�Omo, she predeceased him in 1973. In 1975, he married Carol Verdun, she predeceased him in 1998. He is survived by his friend and companion, Claire Gaidowski of Rhinebeck. During World War II, John's family owned a clothing factory in Red Bank, NJ manufacturing military uniforms. After the factory closed, John and his brother-in-law opened a men's clothing store, John Daniels Men Shop in Red Bank. He retired after 28 years in business. John was a Red Bank, NJ native until 1975 and a 22 year resident of Naples, Fla. He enjoyed traveling. He was an active member and Past President of the Red Bank Kiwanis Club. He attended Church of the Good Shepherd in Rhinebeck and was a former communicant of St. Anthony�s Church in Red Bank. Survivors include his daughter , Diana Gleeson and husband, Joseph, of Hyde Park; 5 grandchildren, JoAnn Kreig and husband, Christopher, of Plattsburgh, Christine Woolley and husband, Bruce, of Niskayuna, NY, Kathleen Gleeson - Lagace and husband, Scott, of Delmar, NY, Ann Marie Gleeson of Boston, MA, and John Gleeson of Portsmouth, NH; 7 Great Grandchildren, Danielle and Lindsey Kreig, Bridget, Katelyn, and Craig Woolley, and Brittany, and Aurora Lagace; his sister, Anna Lucarelli of Toms River, NJ; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Angelina Yulo, and a brother, Henry Garruto. Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Pm, Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at Sweet�s Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am, Wednesday, January 11, 2006, at Regina Coeli Church, Rte. 9, Hyde Park. Graveside services and burial will be 11 am, Thursday, January 12, 2006 in the family plot at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Red Bank, NJ.
