We are a hockey family from New Jersey and huge Johnny Gaudreau fans.
My son played youth hockey for the Lawrence Flames Club team during the same time Johnny played for The Calgary Flames. We played the Hollydell hurricanes many times and they were always competitive games. Our family enjoyed watching Jonny´s spectacular hockey career. He was a master of hockey skills and really stood out during NHL games and skills competitions.
Hockey fans, families, and players around the world know how special and incredibly talented Jonny was. His presence will always be missed on the ice but his memory will live in our HOCKEY hearts forever.

Wherever I would sing the Hockey song (after Johnny transferred to Columbus) I would always shout "Johnny scores!" We only got to have you for two years and the loss is great. I feel for your wife, children, family, friends and anyone that had the chance to know you. You were a positive light in many, many people lives.

I lost my husband in 2015. My son was 6 when his dad passed away and he was a flames fan just like him. I found being a single mom really hard and my son always wanted to go to a flames game and see his favorite hockey player Johnny. Him and I went, and he got to go in the tunnel and get a fist bump and a hello from John and it was the best time he had and was so thankful that John took the time to do that. I will keep you and your family in my prayers and may Johnny and Matty rest in peace.

We found the following prayer was very helpful after the death of my father: God is saying to you today. "Never forget: I am always with you. In good times and in bad times. On mountain tops and in valleys. In joy and in tears. In blessings and in trials. Whatever you are going through, I am right there beside you. Every day. Every night. Every step of the way. I love you and I con't leaveyou. Trust me to take care of you and Be faithful to you in every season that you walk through."

I think Z put it best, he chose Columbus when no one else would. My best friend and I were sitting in his truck, and I was so incredibly excited when I got the news he was coming here. He became a daily name in my house. I got to briefly meat Johnny on his first Opening Night in Columbus. He was extremely genuine and appeared to be a very happy and caring person. The pain that we feel in Columbus for the loss of Johnny and Matty deep, but I cannot imagine what friends, teammates, and family are feeling. I am so sorry for this senseless loss of Johnny and Matty. From what I hear, they were inseparable. They will forever be inseparable in Heaven. There is a rink there where they are playing with Kivi, and many other legends. Rest in peace, Johnny. Thank you for choosing us when nobody else would.

I did not have the privilege of knowing John well, but he certainly made a lasting impression from the time I did spend with him. I played golf several summers ago with John and my friend Billy who would end up being his brother in law. He was quiet at first but as the round went on I realized he had a great sense of humor. I had no idea he was a superstar athlete until after we played that day. To say he had no ego would be an understatement, and I have never forgotten that day. As the years passed and I learned more about John as a husband, brother in law, and person from Fran & Billy, I have admired him from afar. Sending the Gaudreau family love, strength and healing, and may the wonderful memories and lasting impression John made on everyone he touched keep his spirit alive.

I am a stranger who has followed the brothers' stories and the family photos since this tragedy unfolded. I am so very sorry for your collective loss. As a long time member of the entertainment industry who has worked with celebrities and performers for 25 years, I want to comment on the brothers' groundedness and humility. Celebs and stars who reach the brothers' level of success and fame struggle with staying real. To see Johnny Hockey (and Matty) having stayed true to themselves, their families, friends, and communities demonstrates the heart, character, integrity, loyalty, and decency of these two. I have watched in amazement that it is possible to stay humble in the face of fame and success. It is so rare. They will carry on as lessons in goodness, sportsmanship, and strength to countless followers and fans. Godspeed.

A poem that I wrote titled Two Brothers
TWO BROTHERS
Two brothers, Johnny meaning "beloved by God" and Matthew meaning "gift of God".
Two brothers, shining lights with hearts full of love, passion and energy.
Love for their family, love for their neighbours and love for mankind.
Their lives touched everyone around them and brought smiles to multitudes of people young and old.
Their handshakes were felt with warmness and kindness, gratitude and sincerity.
Their legacy as loving and devoted sons, brothers, husbands, fathers, teammates and friends will live on forever.

I was shocked and saddened to learn of John's passing and then to find out it was alongside his brother. Should have been a happy occasion for the gaudreau family, turned so quickly to a nightmare. I didn't know John or Matthew, nor any member of the gaudreau family, but I can say this, I seen John play many times against home town oilers. There was more than 1 occasion John made me mad. His talent on the ice meant he would score against my oilers. I didn't like that, but I respected his talent. How could you not. The stick handling, the sheer talent and he knew how to play the game.
To his wife and his children, I'm sorry you lost your solemate and dad, especially in a that never had to happen. To John and mathews siblings, I'm sorry you lost two good friends and people who enriched your lives and made the family so special. And to John and Matthew's parents. I do not know what you are feeling. I can only imagine the sence of loss. My deepest condolences go to you and your family. Know hockey and others in this world will NEVER forget your boys. Peace to the entire gaudreau family. You will be missed Johnny hockey.

Although I never met him, he will always have a special place in my heart. I worked as a dining hall evening supervisor at our local college. I made sure the screens were set for Hockey for the college students and that is where I first saw him play in Calgary! I thought, this guy is on fire!!! From there, fan forever. Please know that my heart goes out to all of you. The tributes I have seen are heart warming. He was more than a guy playing hockey from his heart. He was the real deal. True and true. Sending love and believing that God is holding you all in the palm of His hand. Hugs from Olds, Alberta, Canada Flames forever but it's OK! I have room for Columbus in my heart as well....

I don´t know John, Matt or their family and I am not much of a hockey fan, but it is clear that the impact he and Matt had on people who knew them the most and people who didn´t even know them at all will live on forever.
I hope their family knows how they were raised and the example of how they lived their lives during their time here will bring positivity to countless people and their own families as they live their lives.
I hope their family knows this and it also brings them peace and even just a little comfort now and over time as they grieve through this unimaginable loss. May God bless them may God be with their family now and always.
