JOHN FRANCIS GERING John Francis Gering, 76, passed away unexpectedly Monday, February 10, 2025, at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday February 15, 2025, at Corpus Christi (Mooney Creek) Catholic Church with Fr. William Dun-Dery as Celebrant and Fr. Bill McEvoy as Concelebrant with burial to follow at Corpus Christi Cemetery. The Rosary will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, February 14, 2025, at Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home with visitation following until 8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Corpus Christ Cemetery or Tunnel to Towers and may be sent in care of funeral home. Condolences may be left for the family online at www.beckerdyer.com. John was born in Atchison, Kan., on March 24, 1948, the son of James and Alice (Domann) Gering. John graduated from Maur-Hill Prep in 1966 and then served in the Kansas Army National Guard and shortly after married Connie Welch on November 25, 1967, at St. Patrick Catholic Church. John was a member of Corpus Christi Mooney Creek Catholic Church, he was also a 4th degree Knight of Knights of Columbus having joined in 1966, Atchison River Rods, and Weston Moonshiners. John enjoyed many things in life, but his farm was high on the list, he also enjoyed car cruises, playing cards and spending time with his grandkids. John is survived by his wife Connie of the home, son Kevin (Bridget) Gering, Atchison, daughters Christina Guardado, Lansing, Kan., and Laurie (TJ) Prout, Kansas City, Mo., grandchildren William Gering, Derrick Guardado, Kaitlyn Misner, and brother Robert (Carole) Gering, Winchester, Kan. John is preceded by his parents, daughter Melinda Misner, grandchild Christopher Misner, Nikki Lynn Guardado and Steven James Gering and brother Joseph Gering.
