So sorry for you loss! Peace and comfort to your family!

Oh what a dear friend I had in John! He was such a kind and patient woodworking mentor. I enjoyed the many hours in his incredible workshop! As we worked, side by side, he would "go off" talking about physics! I would just smile (even laughed a few times, as I waved my hands over my head .... He would laugh when I would say, "John, you´re talking over my head again!!" He enjoyed that! Such a gentleman. I was blessed to have John as a dear friend. Thanks for sharing your Dad with me.

Rob, Rudy and Reed, your father helped me obtain a remarkable education and experience at Country Day, and I will always be grateful. May God grant him eternal rest and let His perpetual light shine upon him. I am so sorry for your loss.

I was a KCD student from 1974-1980 and always respected Mr. Gernert and thought he was an honorable man. And I know better now how difficult a headmaster´s job is. My condolences to all of you. I am sorry to be away the day of his visitation and unable to say so in person.
