John Albert Gley, 83, of Wyoming, RI, passed away on Monday, February 23, 2026, at the Westerly Hospital with his wife by his side, holding his hand. He was the loving husband of Irene (Marrone) Gley. Born in New London, CT on October 30, 1942, he was the son of the late Harold R. Gley and Doris (Schmitz) Gley.

John was raised in Mystic, CT, and lived there until he met the love of his life of 38 years. He worked as an electrician supervisor for Electric Boat for 36 years until retirement, achieving numerous awards for this work while there. He enjoyed fishing, boating, spending the winters in Florida and traveling to many different destinations. He was a member of The American Legion in Hope Valley and a part of the Stonington/Mystic Fire Department for many years. He was easy-going and loved people and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Besides his wife Irene, he leaves his daughter Stacy Zujus and her husband Greg; grandchildren Madison, Bradley and Nichlos and sister Carol Arbour and her husband Carl along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Walter Gley.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in John's name to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
