John M. Good

John Milton Good, 96, of New Market, passed away Monday, January 26, at his home. The funeral service will be held Friday, January 30, at 2:00 p.m. at Valley Baptist Church in Edinburg. Pastors Chad Estep and Glen Turner will officiate. Burial will be private at a later date in Cedar Grove Cemetery in New Market. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the church.

Mr. Good was born November 15, 1929, in New Market, son of the late M.R. Good and Emma Hopewell Good. He was a 1949 graduate of New Market High School and retired after 42 years from Franwood Farms in New Market. He was a farmer, member of Valley Baptist Church, Smith Creek Bow and Gun Club and a forest warden for several years.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Ella Mae Williams Good whom he married on February 18, 1950; a grandson, two sisters, one brother, son-in-law, William Whetzel and daughter-in-law, Debbie Good.

John is survived by two daughters, Shirley Mae Good of New Market, Cynthia Sue Turner and husband Marshall of Timberville; son, Charles M. Good of New Market; 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 3 step great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren and 1 step great great granddaughter.

Pallbearers will be Keith Rose, Charles W. Strickler, Charles D. Strickler, Charles Good Jr., Andrew Campbell and Jordan Rinker. Online condolences may be left at valleyfs.com
