John M. Goodrick, 79, of Ft. Lupton, CO. passed away surrounded by his family, Sunday October 5, 2025, in Longmont CO.
John, also known as Papa and Papa II to his grandchildren and great grandchildren, was born on November 17, 1945, in Hanford, CA to Edson R. Goodrick and Patricia E. Thomas. He soon moved to, and would spend his life in Ft. Lupton, CO.
John served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. After his service he returned to Ft. Lupton, where he married Judith A. Ryan, they went on to have 3 children. John worked as an automotive mechanic most of his life and he operated John's Junk in the 1970's. This is where he shared his love and passion for cars and racing with his children. They carry on that love still today.
In his downtime, John loved drag racing at Bandimere Speedway, which he did up until 2023. He was working on a new race car until recently. Outside of the garage, he enjoyed watching Westerns and Disney movies. Minions and Cars were among his favorites. On a nice summer day, you could catch John on the edge of a lake enjoying some trout fishing with his family.
John is survived by his children, John Goodrick of Platteville, CO; Jenny Goodrick of Sandy, UT; James (Roxanne) Goodrick of Lakeland, FL; 10 Grandchildren; and 11 Great Grandchildren
He is preceded in death by His father Edson R. Goodrick (1973), His Mother Patricia E. Burris (2010) His wife Judith A. Goodrick (2012), and his Brother James R. Goodrick (1973)
