Gloria I am very sorry to hear of John's passing. He was one of the good ones! Sending prayers for you and your family.

I met John when I started high school in 1956. We immediately became friends. John and I grew up together, double dating, having our hearts broken, laying rubber on country roads and drinking our first beers at a Cardinal Ball Game. John was a part of my wedding party.
John suffered from total talent. He was a member of the National Honor Society, lettered in baseball, had the lead role in our Jr. play, became a Master Counselor and Chevalier in the Order of DeMolay and was very popular. He was a member of the Air Force ROTC choral group at SIUC. John had a knack for numbers. He earned a Master's Degree in accounting at St. Louis University and was a board certified CPA.
But more over than that, he was a true friend. In 1984 when I was at St. Louis University Hospital he came up from Arkansas to visit me Even last year, when he was experiencing severe pain, he and Gloria took me to Mercy Hospital to visit my wife, Pam, who was in the ICU with liver disease. John was always there when trouble showed its ugly head.
Since I first knew him, family meant everything to John. This extended to the love of his life, Gloria, to whom he was married almost 48 years, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. John really loved kids and should have been a full time teacher.
For the last 66 years it has been been a privilege and honor to have John as a friend. I will truly miss him, God bless him, Gloria and his family.

Gloria, We are so very sorry. Just this morning I was standing at my back door saying, I need to send you two a card to tell ya's we were thinking of ya's and in our prayers. Then I got the phone call tonight that John had passed. May God give you strength and love during this time and always.
