John Greenhill

John Walter Greenhill, husband of Cherri Greenhill, went to be with his Lord and Savior January 2, 2026. Born in Toronto, ON Canada on April 7, 1946, he was the son of the late John (Jack) Greenhill Sr. and Mary Hoey Greenhill.

John loved everything classic, from the cars he tinkered with, to the music he listened to. He spent his first few decades living in Ontario playing hockey and working in sales before having his daughter Marti Glover (Al). A few years later, John met the love of his life Cherri at a dance(one of his passions) in Mississauga. They would get married on March 10, 1976 in Toronto. A little over a year later the stork brought them a beautiful baby boy Blair Greenhill (Brenda).

In 1985 John and Cherri made the move south of the border to Mt. Pleasant, SC. John got more involved with nuclear power plants in the US and keeping them safe. He would enjoy watching his sons(Blair and his stepson Duncan Campbell, predeceased) play sports, the weather and all else the Lowcountry had to offer, and fell in love with Clemson University after Duncan went there in 1988 and Blair followed in 1995.

After Blair left for college, John and Cherri headed back to the Great White North to be closer to Cherri’s mother Kathleen Grundy in Kitchener. They would bounce back and forth between the two countries trying to be near to loved ones and made their new American home in the Upstate of South Carolina where John spent his remaining years becoming beloved Poppa to his grandkids.

He will be sorely missed by his brother, Michael Greenhill of Kitchener, ON Canada; sister, Bonita of Canada; nephews, Chris Greenhill of Burlington and Johnathan Greenhill of Hamilton, ON, Canada; grandchildren, Haven Campbell of Sandia Park, NM and Lauren, William, and Elisabeth Greenhill of Dunwoody, GA. His aunts, uncles, and many cousins are sorrowing as well as friends and cohorts.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 8, 2026, 2 p.m., at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home – 108 Cross Creek Rd. Central, SC. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Samaritan's Purse.
