Mr. John R. "Bob" Grider Jr.

John "Bob" R. Grider, Jr., 68, of Columbus, passed from this life at 7:50 p.m. Monday, November 3, 2025 at Millers Merry Manor in Hope.
Bob was born June 27, 1957, in Columbus, Indiana, the son of John Robert and Barbara Mae Webb Grider, Jr.
Mr. Grider was a self employed roofer for most of his life. In his earlier years, Bob served in the United States Navy before being honorably discharged August 1, 1974. He loved to hunt and fish. He was also known for his great cooking and perfected many delicious meals over the years, especially his "fried taters". Bob loved listening to all sorts of music. Of course, this fit well with his socializing and enjoying an ice cold Budweiser beverage--in a can. He enjoyed life to the fullest and will be deeply missed by those that know and love him.
Survivors include his daughter, Angela (Phillip) Blanquiz; sons, John "Bobby" (Paige) Grider III, Jason Grider, all of Columbus; mother, Barbara Mae Grider of North Vernon; grandchildren, Devin Grider, Jordon Bryant, Riley Wright, Fancy McFerron, Kannon Blanquiz; sisters, Julia (Gary) Dickmeyer of Nashville, Barbara Sue (Steve) Rayl of Norman; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Robert Grider, Sr.; sister, Diane Sparks; grandson, Kaiden Blanquiz and great-grandson, Jaxson Bryant.
The funeral service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Luke Maggard officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Monday at the funeral home.
Interment will take place at Garland Brook Cemetery. Military honors will be presented by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Bartholomew County Humane Society.
