John G. Hackbarth, 82, of Port Neches, Texas died Monday, April 12, 2010 at his residence. John was born September 11, 1927 in Taylor, Texas to Gustav Hackbarth and Pauline Eulenfeld Hackbarth. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1945 where he was the class Valedictorian and President of the student body. He continued his education at Lamar University graduating Summa Cum Laude. He was a 55 year resident of this area and a retired Financial Manager at Gulf Oil with 38 ½ years of service. He was a member of Nederland Church of Christ, an avid golfer and served in the US Air Force during WWII. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 15, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Levingston Funeral Home in Port Neches with Ministers Don Cain and Ron Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at the funeral home. He is survived by his wife, Lessie Hackbarth of Port Neches, Texas; daughter, Bettye Peltier of Port Neches, Texas; sons, Dr. John G. Hackbarth, Jr. of Port Neches, Texas; Steven J. Hackbarth and wife, Denise of Cypress, Texas; step-daughters, Brenda Cooper and husband, Stoney of Georgia; Linda Doty and husband, Eric of Tennessee; step-son, David Walker and wife, Tracy of Alabama; sister, Adeline Fergusson of Houston, Texas; brothers, Roy Hackbarth of Tyler, Texas; Wesley Hackbarth and wife, Juanita of Las Vegas, Nevada; 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
