John Hacker, a beloved member of the Humansville, MO community, passed away on March 22, 2023, at the age of 96. John was born at home in Davis County Iowa in 1926 to his parents, Franklin Benjamin Hacker, and Cynthia Faye Hacker (Stockham).

John graduated from Bloomfield High School in Iowa in 1945. After being drafted into the Army later that same year, John underwent medical training in Denver, CO. He then served in various military hospitals across Iowa, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas until his discharge in 1947.

John later moved to Missouri and began his career as an entrepreneur, owning and operating a small grocery store in Springfield, MO. He then moved to Pennsylvania to work for the Reading Railroad from 1949 -1951, but ultimately returned to the grocery business. For many years, John worked as a meat cutter for Safeway Stores until his first retirement in 1989. However, he believed that being productive was key to a long life and decided to go back to work. He worked at Mike's Grocery in Humansville, MO from 1995 until 2014, when he retired for the second time at the age of 87.

John was also an active member of the Collins Christian Church in Collins, MO and served as a church elder for some time. He lived a life of service, always putting others before himself. John moved to New Hampshire in August 2021 to be closer to his daughter.

John is predeceased by his late wife, Dorothy L. Hacker, his son, Larry D. Hacker, and his sisters: Ann, Ida Mae, Mary Grossbeck and Irene Broadbent.

He is survived by his spouse, Sharon Lea Hacker, his daughter, Cindy Boehm and son-in-law, Eric Boehm, his grandson, Chris Boehm and his wife Amy Boehm, and his great grandsons, Cody, and Drew Boehm. He is also survived by his grandson, Larry Hacker, Jr, and his granddaughter Crystal and her two children.

At John’s request, no formal services will be held. He came into this world in a simple way and requested his departure from this world be in the same fashion. He will be greatly loved and missed by all who knew him.
