     John D. Haggerty, Jr, 100, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2025, at Sunrise Assisted Living Center in Frederick, Maryland, surrounded by his loved ones.
Born October 5, 1925, in Stoneham, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late John Haggerty and Mary Disque Haggerty. John was preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years, Virginia Perry Haggerty, brother Dale Haggerty, and his sisters Myra Mead and Grace Campbell.


     John lived a life defined by service, faith, adventure, and he loved people. He graduated from Warren Area High School in 1943 and joined the Warren National Bank as a messenger. After serving in the US Army Air Corps during World War II as a second lieutenant, he rejoined the bank. He graduated from the Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers State University in 1958. Upon merger of the Marine Bank and Warren National Bank he was named senior vice president of the Liberty Street office in 1982. John was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Elks Club, the Conewango Valley Country Club, treasurer of the School Board, treasurer of the Board of Directors for Warren General Hospital, and treasurer of the Jaycees where he started the first annual 4th of July parade in 1949. He was also a patron of the Library Theatre up until 2020. He retired in 1986 and moved to New Port Richey, Florida, where he loved spending time with family and friends, playing golf, and traveling. He was an active member and treasurer of the United Methodist Church in New Port Richey.


     John is survived by his son John Haggerty of Madison, Virginia, daughter Cynthia Heil (Cindy) of Frederick, Maryland, son Kim Haggerty and wife Mary of Falling Waters, West Virginia, eight grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be dearly missed by his family and will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, lighthearted spirit, and service to his country.


    Arrangements were made by Morgan Kaduk Funeral Home in New Port Richey, Florida for cremation and burial at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later time. Condolences may be offered at Morgan-kadukfuneralhome.com.
