John Halas Obituary
Born in Dunkirk, New York, John was the son of the late John G. Halas and the late Bernice Majka Halas. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Cheryl Storelli Halas.
John truly cherished the time he spent with his family. He loved relaxing by the pool or having cookouts surrounded by family and friends. Some of his happiest moments were watching his grandsons, Steven and Ryan, play soccer during their high school years. He took great pride in their accomplishments in college and the careers they built afterward.
John was always a character at our annual fantasy football drafts, creating plenty of unforgettable, laugh filled moments. A devoted Duke Blue Devils basketball fan, he rarely missed watching a game. He also enjoyed watching football, basketball, and, of course, his favorite Fox News shows, which often sparked lively conversations with friends and family.
He was a veteran of the Air Force and a member of the American Legion in Fort Mill, SC.
Surviving are his sons, Kenneth Steven Halas and Kevin Scott Halas; his daughter-in-law, Donna Halas and two grandsons, Steven Halas and Ryan Halas; as well as his brother, Ron Halas and his sisters, Janet Fadale and Debra McCloskey.
A memorial service for John will be held at 5:00 pm on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Rd. Rock Hill, SC 29732.
Funeral service will be available for anyone to view via livestream on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 at 5:00 PM EST at https://www.greenefuneralhome.net/live-streamed-services/
