I'd like to say a good bye for now, to Uncle John. I'm sorry that I did not get to say goodbye in person or hug you close one more time. I felt like it was near your time to go. You had a good influence on my life. And I want you to know that there were times that you touched my heart and my life for the better. When I played over at your place, you always treated me as one of your own children. I was out there tilling the garden with all of the kids and doing my share of the chores. And I had to say grace at the dinner table. I laugh at those things now. But, I do so realizing how much that meant to me to be welcomed as part of your family. And I was touched when you opened your home and welcomed my son as well. I wish that we'd have encouraged that relationship more. He needed you, Uncle John. And maybe, you needed him. I sensed your caring in moments that really mattered to me. Like when I was getting divorced and you offered your wisdom. And talked about things that really mattered to you. Like the way that you felt about your children. I realize now, after hearing your funeral, that I was lucky to have heard those things close to your heart. And that you did love and trust me. Because, I don't think that you shared those feelings with very many people. I have sensed your presence and memory still. And want to say "thank you!" People say that it was difficult to get to know you. But, I feel like I know you well. And I wish for you many wonderful outdoor adventures in the sky!
