Mr. John Edward Harris, age 74, of Douglas, Alabama, died on Monday, September 16, 2024, at Shepherd’s Cove Hospice. 

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at 2 o’clock pm in the McRae Chapel with Bro. Joey Cannady and Bro. Glenn Pankey officiating. Interment will follow in Douglas Cemetery. A visitation will be on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, from noon until service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Harris was born in Alabama on January 30, 1950, to John Elmer & Lily Lois Terrell Harris. He was a retired banker. Mr. Harris was a faithful Alabama football fan, an avid golfer, and enjoyed gardening during the spring and summer. His favorite thing to do was to spend time with his many cherished children and grandchildren, and hosting family cookouts. 

Mr. Harris is survived by his Wife of 27 years: Joan Harris of Douglas, Sons: Jonathan & Laura Harris of Guntersville, Cory & Rachel Harris of Albertville, Mingo & Carolyn Holcomb and Brad & Jennifer Holcomb all of Douglas, Daughter: Tracy & Leigh Patrick of Asbury, Grandchildren: Nicole & Rachel Alpers, Wesley & Machell Mullinax, Leslie & Aaron Knight, Menco & Derek Elliott, Cameron & Courtney Holcomb, Kelcey Holcomb, Cannon Harris, Raelyn Gillilan, Amber Harris, Gracie Harris, Claire & Trey Cleveland, Eric & Bridget Morrow, Drake & Linnea Nelms, and Blake Owens, 15 Great Grandchildren, Brother: Jerry Harris of Martling and 

Sister: Martha Oliver of Martling and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: John Elmer & Lily Lois Harris, Brother: Thomas Harris, Sisters: Bobbie Johnson, Corrine Williams, Louise Riddle, and Pat Edmondson. 

Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Peek, Trey Cleveland, Derek Elliott, Leigh Patrick, Donnie Elliott, Tyler Cochran, and Tim Newman.
