John Harrison Obituary

John “Jack” Carlstrum Harrison, 94, a lifelong resident, businessman, and dedicated public servant of Pine Bluffs, Wyoming, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2025.

Jack was born September 7, 1931 in Kimball, Nebraska to William H and Hazel Harrison. He graduated from Pine Bluffs High School in 1951 before pursuing specialized education at the Radio Electronics School in Denver, Colorado, and Microwave Radio Communications School in Dallas, Texas.

On August 16, 1953, Jack married his high school sweetheart, Glennis Strube, at the Pine Bluffs Methodist Church—a congregation founded by his grandparents, Charles and Christine Carlstrum of Sweden. Jack and Glennis shared a beautiful life and 67 years of marriage until her passing in 2019.

A pioneer in his industry, Jack spent nearly 50 years building, owning, and operating Cable TV systems across Wyoming, including Wheatland, Torrington, Lingle, Guernsey, Hartville, and Fort Laramie. His first system, established in Pine Bluffs in 1956, marked the beginning of a distinguished career. He served as President of both the Wyoming and Rocky Mountain Cable TV Associations and was recognized as a Pioneer of the National Cable TV Association, where he also served on the Board of Directors.

Jack’s commitment to his community was unparalleled. He served as the Mayor of Pine Bluffs from 1979 to 1982 and as a member of the Town Council from 1975 to 1979. He was instrumental in the creation of the Wyoming Municipal Power Agency, serving as President and a board member for an organization that continues to provide electricity to seven Wyoming towns today. Jack was also a 50-year member of the Lions Club, a volunteer fireman, Chairman of Trail Days, a member of the Chamber of Commerce, and a frequent performer in the local Melodrama.

A man of deep faith, Jack was a lifelong member of the Pine Bluffs United Methodist Church. He served as a Lay Speaker, Chairman of the Administrative Board, and was a founding Chairman of the Pine Bluffs Methodist Foundation Board. His service extended to the Rocky Mountain Foundation Board and as a Lay Delegate to the Rocky Mountain Conference. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason of the Masonic Lodge of Wyoming and President of the Pine Bluffs Alumni Association.

Beyond his professional and civic duties, Jack found his greatest joy in his family. He cherished summers at their cabin on Guernsey Reservoir, captaining the boat while his children and grandchildren water-skied and tubed. He was an avid traveler, golfer, and camper, and in his later years, he delighted in building and flying remote-controlled airplanes and drones.

Jack is survived by his three daughters, Marjorie Gorman (Tony Creclius), Debra Harrison (Merlyn Coffin), and Lisa Gardner (Jim); and his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren: David Gorman, Angela Gorman, Brett Reher, Tyson Reher (Tatum and Grady), Christina Patterson (Emma and Luke), Briana Fuller (Asher, Micah, Brycen, and Braxlynne), Jennifer Nelson (Annika, Braxton, and Myles), Mathew Gardner (Finn and Madison), Christopher Gorman (Addison and Leana), and Stephanie Gorman.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Glennis Strube Harrison; his parents, William H. and Hazel Harrison; and his brothers, William H. Harrison Jr. and Marshall Harrison, and his son in law David Gorman.

A Celebration of Life will be held February 3, 2026 at 2:30 p.m. at the Pine Bluffs Methodist Church with Rev. Vicky Martinez officiating. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall.

Arrangements are under the care of Schrader, Aragon & Jacoby Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor Jack’s memory may contribute to the Pine Bluffs United Methodist Church or Davis Hospice.
