John Haugland Obituary
true Valentine's baby.
John spent most of his life in the Proctor area, building a life rooted in hard work, determination,and innovation. Hard work came naturally to him. At just 18, he owned his first business-a gas
station in West Duluth. Over the years, he went on to own and run many businesses, including
Bud's Mileage, Proctor Holiday Station, Haugland Oil Co., West Gate Hotel, Tivoli, The Right
Angle, Triamco, Pizazz, Treasure Island Amusements, PubTime Darts, The Keyboard Lounge, a
karaoke entertainment business, as well as multiple rental properties.
John was a man of many talents and endless creativity. He could fix nearly anything. His
hobbies were just as varied-he loved flying, photography, darts, gardening, music, curling, and
singing. John also had a good sense of humor, with a goofy side. He also had a sarcastic side
to him.
Most of all, John quietly mentored and supported countless people throughout his life, touching
far more lives than he ever realized. He was a humble man who never wanted recognition for
the kindness he shared.
He will be deeply missed by all who loved him-family, friends, and the many people whose
lives he touched with his generosity, humor, and steady presence.
A Celebration of Life will be held on November 26th from 4–7 PM at the Proctor Moose Lodge,
415 3rd Ave, Proctor, MN 55810. Please join us as we share stories, memories, and love in
honor of John.
