Heimer, John L., 83, of Gloversville passed away Thursday February 5, 2009 at Nathan Littauer Hospital surrounded by his loving family. John was born on May 3, 1925 to the late John L. Heimer Sr. and Carrie (Mayette) Heimer. John was educated in the Gloversville Enlarged School District and graduated in 1943. He was a proud WWII Veteran and served in the Navy from 1943 through 1946. On November 18, 1950 John married the love of his life, Mrs. Harriet (Johnson) Heimer. They shared 58 wonderful years together. Mr. Heimer was self employed most of his life and owned Heimer's Garage. After his long days at the garage had ended he would look forward to spending some quality time with his loving family. John also was a member of the Empire Statesmen Barber Shop Choir and the American Legion Yellow Jacket Drum and Bugle Corps. John also enjoyed bowling. John is survived by his wife Harriet (Johnson) Heimer of Gloversville; his son John L. Heimer III (Connie) of Gloversville; two daughters SuAnn Murray and MaryLou Hoag (Jeffrey) both of Gloversville, and one cousin Gloria McClelland of Palatine Bridge. Additional survivors include six grandchildren John L. Heimer IV (Becky), Stacie Klymkow (Todd), Katie Heimer (Jason), Chad Murray, Jason Hoag, and Christopher Hoag. Three great grandchildren: John L. Heimer V, Kaden Heimer, and Kaylee Klymkow. Let it be known that John's grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of his life.
