John Paul Hiles, age 61, of Seaford, Delaware, passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Christiana Care Hospital in Newark, DE. Mr. Hiles was born on September 12, 1963, in Flint, Michigan, to Elizabeth (Breza) Hiles and the late James F. Hiles. He was a 1981 graduate of Waterford-Kettering High School and earned his Licensed Practical Nurse certification in 1996 through the Board of Nursing. Mr. Hiles proudly served in the United States Army and the Army National Guard and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. On August 13, 1995, he married Sandra Kay Lim in Laurel, Maryland. Mr. Hiles had a varied and hands-on career, working as an ironworker, enucleator, and later in security and carpentry at Cherry Hill Park. He was a gifted craftsman who enjoyed working with his hands-building, repairing, and creating. He took pride in collecting vintage models and trucks, constructing intricate ships and cars, completing challenging puzzles of over 1,000 pieces, and reading extensively. He is survived by his devoted wife, Sandra K. Hiles; his children: Hope E. Clagett (Charles), Christopher B. Lim (Tracy), Jacqueline N. Hiles, Jacob A. Hiles, and Jennifer V. Hiles; and his grandchildren: Madison M. Reamy, Silas H. Clagett, Mason A. Clagett, Isabella R. Lim, and Jackson B. Lim. Mr. Hiles is also survived by his brother, James F. Hiles (Cory). He was preceded in death by his father, James F. Hiles, and his dear family members Everett L. and Shirley J. Greene. A celebration of Mr. Hiles' life will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Cherry Hill Park Pavilion, 9800 Cherry Hill Park, MD 20740.
