John's academic journey led him to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, a field in which he excelled and used as a stepping stone into a remarkable career. He began his professional life with General Motors, where his talent quickly became evident. His drive and ambition then took him to Audi, where he served as an executive, shaping the future of the automotive industry with his innovative ideas and leadership.
In time, John's entrepreneurial spirit led him to venture into the world of business ownership. He became the owner of a BMW motorcycle dealership, combining his love for engineering with his passion for motorcycles.
John's creativity found another outlet in photography, a pursuit that allowed him to capture the world through his unique lens. His photographs were not just images but stories.
A collector at heart, John found joy in the pursuit of guns, pens, and cameras, each collection a reflection of his diverse interests and his appreciation for craftsmanship and history. His home was a treasure trove of fascinating items, each with its own story and place in John's life.
An avid reader, John's thirst for knowledge was unquenchable. He found solace and adventure within the pages of books, His love for animals was equally profound, with his faithful dogs, Otto and Stella, by his side, providing companionship and unconditional love.
John's sense of adventure was epitomized by his participation in the "Rough Riders" 1000-mile motorcycle events. His passion for motorcycles was not just about the machines but the freedom and camaraderie they represented. He was a fixture in the community, creating and organizing events for gun clubs and motorcycle enthusiasts alike, fostering a sense of unity and shared passion.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Dawn Horner, who was his partner in every aspect of life. His brothers, Jim Horner (and wife Linda) and Tom Horner, will remember him as a guiding light and a source of unwavering support. His cousins, David and Catherine Greer, their children Jacob and Walter, will cherish the memories of the times they shared.
John's legacy is one of love, laughter, and the pursuit of passions. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will continue to inspire us all.
