John Julian Huff, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed from this life on Monday, July 22, 2024, at his home in Adair, Oklahoma, at the age of 77. John's journey began in Muskogee, Oklahoma on August 17, 1946, where he was born to Joe and Barbara (Crane) Huff. On August 6, 2005, he married his wife Ellen, and they spent nearly 19 years together in marriage.
John led a fulfilling life filled with purpose and dedication. He held many jobs over the years but serving as a Muskogee firefighter was one he really enjoyed and was most proud of.
Outside of work, John found joy in various hobbies and interests. He enjoyed fishing in his earlier years and was well known for being an exceptional cook. He also loved to tinker and fix things. More than anything, he loved his family, especially his grandkids, and always took any opportunity he could to spend time with them.
He is survived by his wife Ellen Huff of the home; stepsons, Kai Hampton and wife Carolyn, and Shelby Hampton and wife Kendall; grandchildren, Kylee Hampton, Devon Hampton, Shane Hampton, Gerald Hampton, and Karis Thompson; and his sister, Barbara Montgomery.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Barbara Huff; brother, Joe B. Huff; and his daughter, Julie Thompson.
A funeral service for John will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 25, 2024, at the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel in Pryor with Matt Boston officiating. Interment will follow at the Adair Cemetery with Kai Hampton, Shelby Hampton, Shane Hampton, Gerald Hampton, John Boston, and Philip Boston serving as casket bearers. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m, Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at Shipman's Funeral Home.
