John Huston Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Uht Funeral Home and Cremation Services on Jan. 15, 2026.
John Richard Huston, a cherished son, brother, and uncle, passed away peacefully in Oxford, MI, surrounded by the beauty of the natural world he so loved. Born on September 5, 1957, in Garden City, MI, John's life was a testament to the simple joys and enduring bonds of family.

The son of the late James and Janice Huston, John grew up in a home filled with laughter and love. His childhood memories were shared with his siblings, Mark Huston, Cheryl Diver, and the late Ann Huston, who together navigated the waters of life with a sense of camaraderie and resilience that only siblings know. John's role as an uncle to Jeremiah Jones, Nathan Huston, Brian Huston, Crystal Jones, Bridget Huston, Allison Huston, and the late James Smith was one he embraced with a gentle spirit and a heart full of pride. He was also a beloved great and great-great uncle to many nieces and nephews.

John worked as a press operator at Ford Automotive for 30 years before he retired in 2020. John's love for the outdoors was evident to all who knew him. He found solace in the simple act of watching and feeding the birds and squirrels, a pastime that brought him countless hours of tranquility and contentment. His affinity for nature was matched by his passion for music, with country and rock tunes often providing the soundtrack to his days. He also enjoyed spending time vacationing in New York with his family. Those close to him will fondly remember the times spent listening to music with John, as his easygoing and laid-back demeanor made every moment spent together a pleasure.

Throughout his life, John's unassuming nature belied the depth of his character. He was a man who valued the quiet moments, the unspoken understanding among family, and the beauty of a world observed from the comfort of his own backyard. His presence was a calming force, a reminder that life need not be complicated to be full.

As we bid farewell to John Richard Huston, we celebrate the legacy of a man who taught us the value of simplicity, the strength of family ties, and the joy of life's understated moments. His memory will continue to inspire us, like the birds he loved, to soar to great heights, and like the music he cherished, to find harmony in the world around us. John's spirit will forever be a part of the natural tapestry he so admired, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
