John Robert Ira Eubanks, age 70, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on December 30, 2025.
John was born on August 8, 1955, in Frankfurt, Germany. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Inge Eubanks, and his brothers, Billy Eubanks and Ronald Eubanks.
He is survived by his wife, Vickie Eubanks; his children, Eric Eubanks, Robert Eubanks (wife Jennifer), and Kyle Eubanks (wife Ashley); his grandchildren, Claire, Kennedy, Preston, and Lauren Eubanks, Dylan Greer, and Alexis Lewing (husband Joey); his great-grandchild, Scarlett Lewing; and his sister, Mary Mullins.
John earned a Doctor of Philosophy in organic chemistry from the University of Arkansas. He spent his career working in the polymer industry and also enjoyed teaching young chemists. He held several patents and was proud of his contributions to his field. He made his home in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. He was exceptionally bright, endlessly curious, and delightfully quirky. His sharp mind was matched by a gentle spirit, and he cherished his role as Pawpaw and adored caring for his grandchildren.
Graveside services honoring John's life will be held on January 3, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Lyon, Mississippi.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Memorial Hospital Foundation Oncology Fund in Gulfport, Mississippi.
