So sad to hear of Dr Irwin´s passing. Last visit, late last year we talked about sitting in our backyards and enjoying watching the humming birds. They shall always remind me of him whenever I see them.

I just received the news of Dr. Irwin passing away.

I am deeply saddened to hear as my family and I felt he made such a big and positive impact on us.

He performed surgery on my mother & took care of my sisters and I.
Such a positive role and such a good man.

To the family of Dr. Irwin, I am so sorry for your loss.

Please know you´re in our thoughts and prayers.

Just learned of John´s passing today. Dr. Irwin was a wonderful physician but more importantly, he was an all-round wonderful human being! He was kind and thoughtful, fun-loving and just had an abundance of common sense that he applied in his medical practice. Our kids went to grade school together and he ended up treating every member of our family at one time or another (our snowboarder son - multiple times). We are exceedingly grateful! We remember him with great fondness - and will miss him! Heartfelt sympathy to Camille and his children.

I worked with John for many years. He was an excellent Surgeon and I enjoyed the good work we performed together. John was always a gentleman Surgeon and always treated me with respect. We passed many a time talking about sports-Eagles- and past TV shows. I will miss John very much. To his family: Please accept my condolences.

Ohhhh John John...Truly one of the sweetest, most gentle and caring person I not only had the distinct pleasure of knowing as a Friend for 20 yrs., but he often said, 'Thelma, Call me John'
.. His reputation as an Orthopedic Surgeon was of incredible Talent. Skill. Undeniable compassion and impeccable dedication to not just his patients but US, all his colleagues in the O.R. . . Resilient work-a-holic with such stamina to his work ethics in getting the optimum outcome for all whom he treated and befriended...
Many-a-nights on call (His midnight block time that we loved to call it) Both Jacquie Bencher n I spent with him ( quoting Gone w/the wind ) Which was nothing but pure joy to be with and work with/for him... He may have been S-L-O-W - ZERO Infection Rate. Old fashioned Doctor that stayed With his patient, walking to O R - doing case, and escorting his patient to Post-op with us... Truly A Breed long gone and now ToTally Gone. R.I.Loving.Peace Dr.JOHN Irwin, Our Friend

Dr. John (as we affectionately called him) how you will truly be missed. You treated just about the entire family and we got to know you not just as our doctor but as our friend.
We never left the office with unanswered questions. We didn´t mind waiting in the office because we knew when he came into your room, he came to talk with you about your issue. We were never rushed or made to feel insignificant. We knew when we moved to Florida we would never find a "Dr. Irwin" there. We had so many great conversations about football, astronomy, family, etc. and your passion for these shown brightly.
Dr. John loved to pass on a joke he´d heard and waited for your reaction; hoping it was like his. A very intelligent, compassionate doctor that will be forever missed. To Camille and the Dream Team (Denise, Lynda and Anita) we send you our deepest love and condolences.

I worked in the OR with Dr.Irwin for almost 40 years. He taught me a great deal and was always appreciative and considerate of everyone who helped him in the OR . I don't think there was a physician more dedicated to his patients then Dr.Irwin. 24/7...365 days a year. I know he took care of patients that some other doctors might not have. My daughter and his oldest son were the same age so we often shared kid stories with each other. He always had a story to tell, a trivia question to ask and a fist pump or high five to give. He was a kind and compassionate man and I know that he will be greatly missed. Dr. Irwin made a difference in the lives of many people. I am so sorry for your loss and you are all in my thoughts and prayets

Oh my Lord, so many people are lost without this most gentle soul. On a personal note, I am SO heartbroken. I cried Sunday evening when I heard the shattering news. Having known John for more than 47 years - since we first began our orthopaedic residency at University of Pennsylvania in 1975 - he has been a dear, respected friend. I remember John first meeting his wife, Camille, whle we were still residents, and their wedding after we graduated. I wrote to other residents in our graduating class. Every one of them, responded with the same words, "What a kind person and nice man." John T. was so enviably even-keeled. He just never seemed to be rattled. Even if he was, it never showed. And THAT is the reason he conveyed confidence and was probably the most respected and favored surgeon among the nursing staff. Selfish as it may seem, it is not fair to deprive this chaotic world of such a grounded, kind person. But God has other higher callings for him because as much as He may ask of John, He knows John will invariably spend overtime giving more. May the Lord look after Camille and your family in their hour of bereavement, John. And may He eternally Bless you in heaven. I love you big guy!!!

This was such a shock!! Dr. Irwin was an amazing, caring, compassionate man. He took care of many breaks and sprains that I suffered over many years. We always joked about how we were both born in the same year, and still have a lot of life left in us. The news of his sudden death took the breath out of me. And my heart goes out to his family, and all those who knew him!

Dr. Irwin was absolutely the kindest man. He was "old school", preferring to change his patients dressings himself to insure everything was looking good. He once called me at 2 in the morning because he promised me I would have my results as soon as he got them. I will forever be greatful to him for giving me my life back as he performed a total hip replacement on me just 3 months ago. The medical field, and the world itself, truly has lost a great one in Doc Irwin. I only wish he knew how truly wonderful, and kind he was. My heart is broken.
