John Joseph Jendzel

John Joseph Jendzel was born in Whiting, Indiana. He was raised by his parents in Whiting and his grandmother on the South side of Chicago. John moved to Greeley to go to college at UNC, where he met the love of his life and future wife, Janet Henneck. An Army vet, his final station was at Fort Carson Leader's Academy in Colorado Springs. He was an industrial engineer prior to his service. After his discharge, the couple then moved to Yuma, Colorado for 10 years where he taught classes, coached football and wrestling and took summer classes for a degree in counseling and college preparation. They then moved back to Greeley, where John worked for District 6 for 26 years as a school counselor, Learning Facilitator and worked on numerous evaluation and recruiting teams to hire new teachers.
John and Jan were married for over 69 years and have four daughters: Jeri Leonard (Mike), Joni Jendzel, Jodi Gnadt (Jerry), and Juli Jendzel (John Scott); seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. John was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He dearly loved when his family was close. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, four wheeling, camping, his dogs and the Broncos, and had a great sense of humor.
John passed away in his home in Greeley a couple of weeks before his 92nd birthday. John's ashes will be interred at a later date in the National Bohemian Cemetery in Chicago.
