Dear John:
Thank you for all you have been to me. You may not have known it, but you took a very eclectic me under your wing. Despite my having a darkened veil of TBI, you saw through it, and saw me not as most did. Not as a loser, drown in his morose inner bindings, veiled in an awkward stagy ebullient wrapper, but as a person with problems, a friend, and as a child of God.
In part to you, John, I gained faith and confidence in myself. You helped my hidden academic seed grow. Although I could never approach your intellect - or ability to love, I would meet mine.
I enjoyed, a stint IBM, followed by a satisfying career as a physician. Moreover, all of my children have their university educations and successful careers. So, "I can no other answer make but thanks and thanks and ever thanks?" I hope to pass it on.
To quote David Mitchell´s Cloud Atlas, "Our lives are not our own. We are bound to others, past and present, and by each crime and every kindness, we birth our future[s]."
I do believe that all good things must end, only to be followed by greater things.
Thanks for your kindness.
