John “Johnny” Samuel Patterson, 60, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at his home. He was born in Alamance County to the late Leighton Holt Patterson and Joyce Laverne Hughes Patterson who survives. He was the husband of 32 years to Ann Page Patterson of the home.
Johnny was employed for over 40 years with Carolina Biological and he shared his son’s hobby of raising chickens. He was a member of Bethlehem Christian Church where he served as a former trustee, and on various committees. He also volunteered as a chaperone on trips led by the church. He worked part time for Hinshaw Tile along with his brother-in-law. He coached little league when his son and daughter were younger and played softball for Bethlehem Christian Church for many years in their church league. He enjoyed fishing with friends and family, enjoyed Nascar, and his favorite driver was Jimmy Johnson. Johnny spent many happy memories at the “Dollar General” which is fondly remembered by his family. “He always had to get his Pepsi and his Twix”. He was a loving husband and father and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Johnny loved his dogs, “Karly”, “Tanner”, “Abby”, “KC”, “Riley”, “Lacy” and “Cashew”.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Page Patterson of the home; son, Jacob Page Patterson of the home; daughter Anna “Anna Kat” Kathryn Patterson of Mooresville ; mother, Joyce Hughes Patterson of Burlington; sisters, Anita Patterson Watkins and husband Jimmy of Florida and Sherry Patterson Hinshaw and husband, Robert of Burlington; brother, Aaron Holt Patterson and wife, Kay of Burlington; nephews, Michael Watkins and Clayton (Kelly) Hinshaw; nieces, Amanda (J.R.) Linton, Christy (Tim) Hinkle, Heather Patterson and Ashley (Jeff) Morris; 5 great nephews and 5 great nieces.
A service to celebrate Johnny’s life will be held at 3:00pm on Sunday, March 19, 2023 at Bethlehem Christian Church by Rev. Todd Felkel with the burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:45-2:45 pm prior to the service at the church and other times at the residence.
Memorials may be made to Cherry Grove Volunteer Fire Department, 7074 Cherry Grove Road, Reidsville, NC 27320.
