John T. Jones

John T. Jones, age 80, passed away November 17, 2023. He was a 1961 graduate of Agricola High School. He first went to work at Bay Ford Tractor in Mobile. He then worked for Halter Marine in Moss Point for many years. After retirement at age 62, he operated his own shop, Jones Lawn and Garden. He was a member of Union Missionary Baptist Church, where he married his wife, Carolyn Polk and they raised their children. He was a devoted husband, loving father, Grandpa, great grandpa, brother and dear friend.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Eugenia Vise and Thomas T. Jones; siblings, Thomas Grant Jones, Charles Luther Jones, Edd Jones, Thomas Austin Jones, Dola Inez Jones, Maud Leola Jones Thigpen, Jessie Marie Jones Clark, William Carl Jones and Mary Idaree Jones Anderson.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 59 years, Carolyn Joyce Polk Jones; children, Melissa Carol Jones (Gary) Brockway, Shelly Marie Jones (Gary) Jarvis, John Randall (April) Jones; grandchildren, Micah Brockway, Jeremiah Brockway, Elizabeth Seymour, Hannah Brockway, Sarah Brockway, Megan Phillips, Kaitlyn Holland, Morgan Miller, Ariel Hodges, Jonna Hodges and Jade Byrd; 10 great grandchildren and 4 more great grandchildren on the way; sisters, Kay Jean (Wayne) Christian and Barbara Lou Wade;
The Visitation will be Tuesday, November 28, 2023 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Union Missionary Baptist Church. The Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 PM in the sanctuary with Bro. Terry Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers include Micah Brockway, Jeremiah Brockway, Wayne Phillips, Chris Holland, Stacy Eubanks, Casey Mitchell, Nick Seymour and Byron Jones. Honorary Pallbearers include Wayne Christian, Julius Williams, Tracy George, Greg Jones, Bobby Howell and Tommy Polk.
