John Randal Jones, 61, of Monroe Louisiana, passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2023, at his mother’s home after an eight month battle with colon cancer.

On November 1, 1962, in Austin, TX, John was born as the youngest of three children to Ralph and Jo Nell Jones. After moving to Louisiana in 1973, John attended the CP school on Kansas Lane and later the Ouachita Parish system. Though he was unable to physically participate in organized sports, he was an avid fan of the Ouachita Lions and the Dallas Cowboys. His unwavering devotion for his football teams brought him weeks filled with joy or crushing disappointment which could only be resolved with a win the following week. And on more than one occasion the officiating was laid blame for his team’s failure.

After completing his education, John entered the work force. He had numerous jobs through the years, and it took awhile to find the right fit, but he loved having the opportunity to work and support himself—so much so, that missing a day of work would create disappointment and frustration. At the time of his death, he was employed at the state building under the supervision of Goodwill Industries.

John enjoyed the ability to live independently yet that would not have been possible without the support of ARCO. Thank you to the hands on workers who enriched John’s life.

It gives us great comfort in knowing John loved the Lord as his personal Savior. Members of North Monroe Baptist Church will miss seeing John’s genuine worship, lifting his hands in praise to his Lord and Savior.

We will miss you, John…Heaven got a good one!

John was preceded in death by his father Ralph Jones, his brother James Jones and his grandparents. He is survived by his mother, Jo Nell Prindle, his stepfather Frank Prindle, his sister and brother in law Jana and Dan Andrews, four nieces, two nephews, three great nieces and four great nephews.

A funeral service will be held at North Monroe Baptist Church in the West venue at 11:00AM Friday, December 29, 2023, with Dr. Bill Dye and Rev. Warren Eckhardt officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to service.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Jones, Mike Smith, Greg Manley, Sr., Don Brant, Mike Newsom, and Herman Ledet. Honorary Pallbearers will be Virgil Watson and his ARCO staff.

The family requests that any memorials made in John’s name be given to ARCO or North Monroe Baptist Church.
