John Joseph Terrell Obituary

Published by Legacy on Dec. 13, 2021.
Passed away in his sleep Saturday, December 11, 2021 at home. John was born to Charles and Linda on September 8, 1968 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. John started working in construction and he continued to do that for most of his working years. On July 30, 2003, He married his best friend, Frances, after years of being together. John was a hardworking man but also liked to have fun. Some things he enjoyed doing are dancing, listening to music, grilling, camping and going on Sunday drives with this family.

Francie and Jay spent many afternoons driving around West Michigan. They enjoyed trips up north and stopping for treats. Francie and Jay always had a love for their pets. Jay frequently rescued cats and birds. His cat Boogie laid with him daily at the end of his life. He rescued Boogie and had him for 8 years.

He was a supportive friend to many. He considered many friends like family. He enjoyed going dancing with his daughter and showing her the moves. They spent many nights together in downtown Kalamazoo making memories together. Spending time together was a great source of joy for Jay as his daughter grew up.

Growing up Jay loved spending time in the woods with his dad Steve. They used to create adventures, and memories in the woods behind the family house. Steve was a cub scout leader, the coolest one. Lane and Jay had special bonds with Steve, he was a corner stone of their foundation growing up.

In his last year's Jays greatest source of joy were his grandkids. He loved to spend time with Oliver, and Laurel. Jay was a very attentive grandpa. They were his world, and let everyone know it.

Surviving John is his wife, Frances; mother, Linda Simons; daughter, Rebeccah (Randy) Kesterson; grandchildren, Oliver, and Laurel Kesterson; his brother, Lane (Julie) Terrell, Elaine (Tim) Griffin, Don (Donna) Crampton, Yvonne Caswell, Ronald Crampton and Richard Crampton.
