John M. Kacani, 85, of Metuchen passed peacefully at his residence on Monday, June 9, 2025, while surrounded by his loving family.
Born July 21, 1939, and raised in New Brunswick, John graduated from St. Peter's High School, then attended St. Bonaventure University where he was in the ROTC Program and was Senior Class President. John received a law degree at Georgetown Law School and proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After his service, John returned to work at
Arthur Anderson, received his CPA License and then joined Hoechst-Celanese as a Tax Accountant, retiring almost 40 years later. He was a member of many different professional organizations in the law/accounting/tax fields.
John's greatest love and passion was his family, and he cherished and adored his wife of 63 years, Noël, beyond all else. They shared a special bond, admired by all who knew them, and it was no surprise that John waited to wish Noël "Happy Anniversary" before his final rest. John loved coaching Little League baseball, coaching all four sons over 13 years. His dedication and impact on Metuchen Little League earned him induction into the Little League Hall of Fame. He shared his passion for golfing with his friends, former co-workers, and his old high school buddies. An avid football Giants fan, John held season tickets for over 60 years and loved attending games with his family and the Moose Lodge "Back of the Bus" crew. The pinnacle of his fandom was attending two Super Bowls with Noël. He was also an avid fan of the San Francisco Giants, NY Rangers, and NY Knicks.
John was predeceased by his parents, John and Margaret Kacani and his sister, Margaret Vogel.
He is survived by his wife, Noël (née Carney), four sons, Patrick (Kim) of Richmond, VA, Christopher "Kit" (Tammy), Timothy (Karen), and Kenneth (Gwen), all of Metuchen; 11 grandchildren, Ryan (Varshini), Jenny, Mollie-Aidan, Stacey (Joe), Kelsey (John), Kate (Jack), Brendan, Kelly, Will, Emma, and Thomas; 6 great grandchildren.
Visitation is Friday, June 13, 2025, from 3 - 7pm at the Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 568 Middlesex Ave, Metuchen.
The funeral is Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 9:45am at the funeral home followed by a 10:15am Funeral Mass at St. Francis Cathedral, Metuchen. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Metuchen.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.

The news of John's passing hit me hard. He was a good friend, even though we didn't see much of each other after graduation from St. Bonaventure Univ. He and Noel at class reunions especially. So many good memories.

He and Noel are blessed with a large and loving family. That is the testament to a good and complete life.

Christine and I send our heart felt condolences to Noel and all the Kacani's. Rest in Peace, dear friend
