I did some time with John at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in Philadelphia. Neither one of us got anywhere near to ordination. John was " a piece of work", in the best sense of the expression. Requiescat in pacem.

John was a Fine Gentleman, and then some. Many the time we shared enlightened conversation over a cigar. We miss him already. There´s not many like John.

In the mid-1990's, John Kachmar served as Administrator of St. Mary's County government for the elected Board of County Commissioners that I was honored to be on. He always honestly approached each issue and was challenged with the County Attorney to fix a long list of unlawful actions taken by previous administrations. He labeled himself as a "hired gun" to clean up local government. St. Mary's County is a better place thanks to his presence. And, I am a better person for having known him. God Bless You Very Much, John Kachmar.
