John Kakas Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brenna-Cellini Funeral Home - Hamilton on Mar. 3, 2026.
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of John Daniel Kakas Jr., who departed this life on March 1, 2026, just days shy of his 77th birthday. Born on March 6, 1949, in Trenton, NJ, John lived most of his life in Chambersburg, where he was a beloved member of the community. He later moved to Hamilton, where he resided until his passing.

John was known for his kind heart and generous spirit. A proud U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, he carried his love of country and quiet strength throughout his life. He dedicated many years to the transportation industry as a taxi driver for Yellow Cab, where his warm smile and friendly demeanor made every ride a pleasant experience for his passengers.

A true jack of all trades, John was also a successful hairstylist in Margate, and later worked as a croupier at Bally's Atlantic City and Golden Nugget Atlantic City. No matter the role, he brought warmth, humor, and dedication to everything he did.

John was predeceased by his parents, John Daniel Kakas, Sr. and Letizia (Vitangeli) Kakas; his daughter, Gia Kakas; and his brother, Thomas Kakas.

Family was everything to John. He is survived by his beloved daughters, Letitia Mancia and Jeanine Kakas, son-in-law Bruce Mancia, and cherished siblings, sister Josephine Manzo and sister Lisa Toscano, along with her husband Bruno Toscano. Devoted uncle to Anthony and Nicholas Manzo, Thomas and Brian Kakas, Nina and Adriana Toscano and his cherished great-niece, Natalee Kakas. He also leaves behind his long time companion, Linda Pricolo as well as many loving cousins and life-long friends.

His most important role was being "Pop-Pop" to his four grandchildren: Giovanna, Francesca, Giuliano, and Angelina. His world revolved around spoiling them, showering them with love and gifts.

An avid poker player and dedicated sports fan, John enjoyed watching games, especially when it came to his favorite teams, the Philadelphia Eagles and the Philadelphia Phillies.

Family and friends are invited to honor John's memory during the following services:

A public viewing will be held on March 9, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Hamilton Brenna-Cellini Funeral Home, 2365 Whitehorse-Mercerville Rd., Hamilton, NJ 08619. A second public viewing will take place on March 10, 2026, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am, also at the Hamilton Brenna-Cellini Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anthony's Church, 626 South Olden Ave., Hamilton, NJ on March 10, 2026, at 11:00 am. Entombment will follow directly after the mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, 400 Woolsey St., Hamilton, NJ. John's warmth and love will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace.

My condolences to John's family. I remember him from teenage years, as a frequent dance partner at Hugh Carcella Hall and at Jerry Blavat dances at the War Memorial Building. He was a great dancer and always a gentleman. Rest in peace, John. Enjoy dancing in heaven wirh your family.
