John Henry Kastner, a former marine and a retired New Orleans police detective, executive assistant to Chief Henry Morris, and small business owner, returned home to his Heavenly Father on February 9, 2014, at the age of 73. He was the loving husband of Joan Zimmer Kastner. Loving father to Susan Young Kastner, Donna Young Kastner Bihlmeyer (Joe), Keith Kastner and Kevin Kastner. Brother of Joe Kastner (Karen), Jerry Kastner (Calli) and James Kastner. Poppie to 6 grandchildren and 2 great- grandchildren. He was a native of New Orleans, graduated from Cor Jesu and Loyola University. He was a ferocious reader and loved his crossword puzzles. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 4921West Metairie Ave, Metairie, LA 70001 on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 11:00 AM. Visitation from 10:00 AM until time of Mass.

John Henry was a dear friend and neighbor. We would cut each others front lawn every other week and chat afterward about all current matters that we shared an interest. I will always remember these pleasant chats and the humor we both shared about it all. He will always be missed by all.
