WHITE SETTLEMENT - John "Mike" Kaufman, 77, went to be with his Lord and Saviour April 19, 2023, with his wife, Kathleen by his side. He battled with cancer and a heart condition for a long time.
Mike was born Oct. 1, 1945 in Shawnee, Kansas to John George Kaufman and Caroline Della Renz-Kaufman. He served in the United States Army as a cryptographer and sharpshooter. He was honorably discharged.
After discharge from the military Mike came home to help take care of his grandmother and siblings. Mike worked in the warehouse for many years and became disabled in 2005.
On Feb. 21, 1979, Mike's whole life changed. Mike accepted the Lord as his personal Savior. He loved the Lord. Mike developed a servants heart. He began serving the Lord by doing visitations and was faithful in Church. Mike began the nursing home ministry in Mineral Wells in 1983. He did this ministry for over 30 years. He also did the Benbrook Nursing Home for over 25 years as well with his friend, Jack Dunn.
Mike married his wife, Kathleen Feb. 9, 1997. Promised to love her today as he couldn't promise her a tomorrow. Together they served the Lord. Mike and Kathleen attended First Bible Baptist Church of Kennedale, Texas.
Mike became associate pastor in 2005 until he became the pastor in May 2019. He resigned his post Feb. 12, 2023, due to health reasons.
Mike enjoyed going to revivals and camp meetings. Mike's love for the Lord was evident in his life. He put the Lord above all else. Whenever asked how he was doing his reply was always I'M SENSATIONALLY AMAZING.
