John Kennedy Obituary

John William Kennedy
Jacksonville - John William Kennedy, 89, formerly of Jacksonville, passed away Thursday, December 8, 2022, at Jacksonville Memorial Hospital. He was born April 7, 1933, in Jacksonville, the son of James and Irene Ulum Kennedy. He married Phyllis Ann Peters on October 31, 1954, in Jacksonville and they later divorced.
John is survived by one son; John Michael Kennedy of Florida, three daughters; Anne Maureen Wood, Joan Marie Black, and Laura Jane Sullivan all of Indiana, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, one brother; George Edward Kennedy of New Mexico, and life partner, Carolyn Lusk.
He was preceded in death by one brother; Paul Joseph Kennedy of Iowa and a twin sister; Patricia Anne Kennedy McNamara of Texas.
John graduated from Routt Catholic High School in 1951 and went on to serve in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He later attended the University of Illinois. He was an entrepreneur in a wide variety of ventures.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday December 14, 2022, at the Williamson Funeral Home with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Memorials are suggested to Routt Catholic High School. Online condolences may be left at www.airsman-hires.com.

I only knew John for a short time but I enjoyed our interaction. I adopted him as a grandpa. He will be missed and was a good man.
