John Raymond Kisner, Sr., 79, passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, Illinois. John was born on July 31, 1946, the son of Allen and Betty (Jacobs) Kisner in Rochelle, IL. He proudly served with the United States Army. On October 7, 1981, he married Susan A. Pickereign in Rochelle. She preceded him in death on July 21, 2009. He worked for Rochelle Foods for many years.

John loved fishing and he was an avid Cub’s fan. He had a good time joking a round and giving people a “hard time”. If you were the recipient of his joking, you knew you were one of the special people in his life. He was a member of the Rochelle Moose Lodge and a lifetime member of the Rochelle VFW Post 3878.

John is survived by his son, John Kisner, Jr. of Rochelle; daughter, Jody (John) Tibbs of Jackson, MO; two step daughters: Stacey Gonzalez and Lori (Louis) Shinabarger; sister, Jean Tabor of Rochelle; three grandchildren: Michael Kennedy, John Kisner III and Leighla Howard.

In addition to his parents and wife, Susan, John is preceded in death by two sisters: Rita Kisner and Sandy Dinsmore.

The visitation will be from 2:00 - 4:00 P.M., Sunday, February 1, 2026 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, February 2 at the funeral home with Pastor Joy Alsop officiating. Burial will follow the service at Trinity Memory Gardens in Rochelle. Memorials may be given in John’s memory to VFW Post 3878 or the Rochelle Moose Lodge 903. Visit www.ungerhorner.com to sign the online guest book.
