John Stephen Kovacs
Nov. 2, 1990 - Feb. 8, 2023
HERMITAGE, Tennessee - John Stephen Kovacs passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, on February 8, 2023, in his sleep.
Born on November 2, 1990, in Decatur, IL, he was a true gift to anyone he met. He had a smile that would light up the room and his laugh was just as contagious. He was an amazing son, brother, uncle, fiance, and soon to be stepfather. He graduated from Mount Zion High School in 2008, and was friends with anyone who crossed his path. He had a degree in cyber security and also worked very hard in the mechanical field. He excelled at everything he did.
He later moved to Nashville, TN, where he worked as a machinist and helped raise a family. He loved music, the mountains, and most importantly his family.
He is survived by his fiancee, Sabre Nihiser; stepson, Jack Powell; mother, Patricia Kovacs; father, John Kovacs; sister, Kalie Kovacs; grandmother, Elizabeth Kovacs; grandfather, Joseph Kovacs; grandfather, Terry Bullington; nephew, Kooper Kovacs; and niece, Marli Miller.
He is proceeded in death by grandmother, Martha Peters.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday evening, February 15, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion, IL. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at dawson-wikoff.com.

I just had a dream, and woke up thinking about John for no real reason. I hadn't spoken to him in 15 years but he was an awesome acquaintance back in the day. I decided to Google him, and came across this. It sends a shot of cold alloy through my heart to know such a man full of life and energy and vibration could pass so young. I remember his group of friends being some of the funniest, clever and quippy young men in highschool. By the way he graduated in 2009, not 2008. He was very smart, always quick with the word and also full of a sincere but understated loyalty for his friends. He had an awesome taste in music and we used to video game over Xbox live. I really regret losing touch not just with him, but many others over the years. I know he will be fondly remembered and I hold in reverence his loved ones who cared for him and supported him. Its no wonder he's randomly in my dreams sometimes, now that I know he's gone. But he's not really gone, I've experienced enough coincidences to recognize there are not really any coincidences, and enough events to develop a true faith. As words of condolences and hope to his loved ones, I offer my fullest assurance that he resonates not just in memory and vibration, but spiritually and essentially, he is somewhere out here in creation. Rest in peace, Jonny.

My deepest condolences and prayers and comfort to the family of John.
I didn't know him, but I worked with Patty at Mr. Donut and I was friends with Saber's mom, Jackie, and her dad, Tim.
John was only 7 months younger than my son....I couldn't imagine what pain and anguish you must be feeling.
I'm so very sorry for your lost of your Dear Son.
Prayers of Comfort and Healing; in the Name of Our LORD and Savior, Jesus.
