LACEY, Dr. John Robert, M.D., age 69, of White Stone, Va., died Tuesday, December 2, 2008. He was a physician for many years in Kilmarnock, Va., and is survived by his wife, Joanie Ellen Lacey; a son, Donald Lacey of Mechanicsville, Va.; three daughters, Jessica Thompson of Richmond, Va. and Dawn Lacey of Newport News, Va., Michelle Samuels of Zephyr Hills, Fla.; and 14 grandchildren. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at the Currie Funeral Home, Kilmarnock, Va. Memorial contributions may be made to the Chesapeake Academy Annual Fund, P.O. Box 8, Irvington, Va. 22480 Attn: Jeff Curtis.

Dr. Lacey was my grandmother's (Dora Yancey-age 103) doctor for many, many years. He visited her many times at the Mayfair and had a fantastic sense of humor.

John was a wonderful, smart and caring man.I worked with him at Mary Immaculate when he practiced in Newport News and watched him be a great doctor many times over, He always went the extra mile.
