John LaSalle was a resident of Kaplan for most of his life. In 1955 he married the love of his life, Audrey LaSalle. In his early years he served his country with the US Navy, as well as serving as the president of the Lions Club. John was a hardworking man, wonderful father and grandfather, and watched over his grandchildren in their early years, while also running his own business. John loved listening to Cajun French music every Sunday with Audrey and barbequing for his family, and celebrated every birthday and holiday with his family, along with teaching his grandchildren his knowledge of fishing, mechanics and cooking that are now being used in their everyday lives. John will be greatly missed and leaves his family with memories they will cherish forever.

He is survived by his son, John LaSalle, Jr. (Jackie) of Forked Island; his daughter-in-law, Becky LaSalle of Kaplan; his seven grandchildren, Tristan LaSalle (Brittney) of Youngsville, Shayna LaSalle of Lafayette, Lisa Perro (Tralyn) of Abbeville, Brandy Oge (Barrett) of Duson, Amber LaSalle of Kaplan, Lauren LaSalle of Kaplan and Caleb LaSalle (Hailey Blanchard) of Lafayette; his eight great grandchildren, Corbin and Ari LaSalle, Rilyn Perro, Landyn, Alexander and Isabella Johnson and Cullen and Grayson LaSalle of Kaplan; and his brother, Vernis LaSalle of Alexandria.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey LaSalle; his son, Kevin LaSalle; his three sisters, Gladys L. LeBlanc, Edmae L. Pesson and Erline L. Gaspard; his four brothers, Melivin, Theodore and Watson LaSalle; his mother, Celestse Marceaux LaSalle; and his father, Adam LaSalle.
