John Laughary Jr. was born in Wichita, Kansas on May 6, 1949 to John Laughary Sr. and Norma (Murray) Laughary.
He passed away in Wichita, Kansas on April 15, 2025.
John was a devoted husband, father and Papa who truly was living a life of faith and love. He was a faithful role model in his trust in God. He carried on the family tradition of railroading and worked for Missouri Pacific Railroad until retirement in 2010. He was a gentle giant who enjoyed interacting with others and providing service wherever needed.
John is survived by his wife Cheryl Laughary of 53 years, father to David, Brian and Roger (Abby). He was Papa to his grandchildren Emma, Ridley, Edie, Rex and Ryken. John is survived also by his sister, Sharon Gilmer, nieces, nephews and many cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents John Sr. and Norma Laughary.
Funeral Service is on Monday April 21 at Northside Church of Christ, 4545 N Meridian, Wichita, Kansas. Visitation 10-11:00 AM and Service at 11:00 AM. There will be a private family interment at 2:00 at Old Mission Wichita Park Cemetery.
Memorials are: 1) Carpenter Place, 1501 N Meridian, Wichita, KS 67203 ; 2) Union Rescue Mission, 2800 N Hillside, Wichita KS 67219

John and I were school mates at Horace Mann and North High. We stayed friends after high school. I am sad to here that he as passed, but he is in the hands of God.
