John Erwin Learned age 77 of Hancock passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 12, 1948 in Port Washington to Clifford and Joyce (Westfall) Learned. On July 25, 1970 he married Barbara Jean Dickmann. John worked as a welder until his retirement and then moved to Hancock in 2010 to enjoy his retirement among the secluded 12 acres. John enjoyed sitting around the fire-pit, drinking a bud light and listening to Bob Dylan. John was a wonderful man who will forever be missed and loved.
John is survived by his beloved wife Barbara of 55 years, children Scot (Shelley) and Wendi (Dewayne); forever adored by granddaughters: Emily and Jasmine; brothers: Fritz (Kathy) and Michael (Barb); numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and the hunting neighbors: Dave (Rosemary), Don (Jill), Gus (Nicole), Ray and Jeff who became his closest friends since moving. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister: Karen Lucas and brother: Ray Learned.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
