TROUPSBURG, NY – John J. Leonard, Jr. peacefully passed away at his home on November 18, 2025. He was born March 13, 1941 to his late parents John J. Leonard, Sr. and Mary Agnus Ryan Leonard in Troupsburg, NY and attended Troupsburg Central School.

John met and married his devoted wife of 63 years, Lois Bennet Leonard, in 1962. John was a dairy farmer most of his life, then changed to beef cattle once his children were grown. He was also a Code Enforcement Officer for several local towns for more than 30 years.

John was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Pamela M. O'Rourke; Father and Mother-in law, Howard and Doris (Sutfin) Bennett; his siblings,Sister-in-law, Joan Bennett;Sister JoAnne (James) Stone; Sister Lenore (William) Kinney andSister-in-law, Joanie Welton.

He leaves behind his wife, Lois; his son Tim Leonard (Dianne Watts); his son Pat Leonard (Kim Kiley); his son Terry Leonard (Jodi); and his son-in-law Tom O'Rourke. He is also survived by his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Ryan, Vivian, Hazel and Nolan O'Rourke; Brenna, Troy, Abigail, Vara and Sloane Watson; Carly and Brent Green; Nicole Leonard; William and Lyndsey Leonard; Bridget and Alex Ruiz; Nikki (Sean-Paul) Desrosier and Kevin Kiley.He also leaves behind his sister MaryAnn (Joe) McCaffrey; Brother-in-law, Roy Bennett, as well as many special nieces and nephews.

Per John's request, there will be no public service held. Rather, there will be a private family ceremony in the spring, where he will be laid to rest at the family burial plot in St. Ignatius Cemetery on Leonard Road in Troupsburg, NY.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to The Troupsburg Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 96, Troupsburg, NY 14885.
